Millbrae Sports Fields Renovation

The Upper Field of Green Hills will be will be fenced off on April 5, 2010.  In addition, the playground will be removed and the Millbrae Parks Division will start spraying the turf area.  During this time, the lower parking lot will remain open until April 14, 2010.

The Millbrae Sports Fields Renovation Project is jointly funded by the City of Millbrae and the Millbrae School District to reconstruct sports fields in Lomita Park, Meadows, Spring Valley, Taylor and Green Hills Schools.  Phase I construction includes fields in Lomita Park, Meadows and Spring Valley and Phase II construction includes fields in Taylor and Green Hills.

Phase I construction has been substantially completed and all fields included in this phase were opened on March 1st, 2010 and made available for scheduled programs and physical education.

Phase II of the project’s construction is slated to commence after April 15th, 2010.  Bids for this phase of the project were opened on February 24th, 2010 with a total of eight bids received.  The lowest responsible bidder is McGuire and Hester Construction Company, the same company awarded Phase I of construction for the project.  City staff is scheduled to present their recommendation to award the contract for Phase II Construction to McGuire and Hester to City Council at their regular meeting of March 23, 2010 since the City of Millbrae is the lead agency in charge of managing the contract.

City staff will also present this proposal for awarding the contract to McGuire and Hester Construction Company to the Millbrae School Board at their regular meeting of March 22, 2010 for information only.

Green Hills and Taylor fields are scheduled to re-open on March 1, 2011.
